Making history and heading to the Class D Final Four
The Indians are the 2009 Southeast Region volleyball champs and will head to the state tournament this weekend, the first time they've qualified with a regional title in hand. The Shelter Island girls and their long-time nemesis, the Haldane Blue Devils, made every point breathtaking, fans said after the team's Friday, November 13 victory in Bellport. These players rose to the occasion with individual flair: Junior Stephanie Vecchio, Sophomore Kelsey McGayhey, Senior Shelby Willumsen and Senior Claire Read.
